This is Lamar Incised pottery that was given the name Rood's Incised by Joseph Caldwell for sherds from the Rood's Landing site in Stewart County, Georgia (9Sw1).
Incising on sand / grit-tempered pottery. The incising is broad lined and carefully executed.
Vessel forms are hemispherical bowls and globular vessels.
Vessels are well smoothed or burnished, and are usually a homogenous dark gray surface color.
Rims are neatly folded.
Late Mississippian.
Central Chattahoochee River valley.
