Backround

Defined by Patricia Holden and later revised by Roy Dickens from excavation in western North Carolina.

Probably not a type that is of much use in Georgia.

Presumably named after Pisgah Mountain.

Sorting Criteria

Just as the name says on grit-tempered pottery.

This is presumably the same as what some researchers have called obliterated stamped, or roughened pottery.

Chronological Range

Middle Mississippian.

Geographical Range

Western North Carolina and perhaps extreme northeastern Georgia.
