Named by Gordon Willey after the Pierce site, 8Fr14, in Franklin County, Florida.

Sorting Criteria

Incised and zoned red designs on fine sand and mica-tempered pottery.

Designs include rectangular panels, horizontal bands, vertical zigzag bands, diamonds, and pendant loops.

Known vessel forms are U-shaped double vessels and cylindrical beakers.

Chronological Range

Middle Woodland, Santa Rosa-Swift Creek period.

Geographical Range

Northwestern Florida Gulf Coast and southwestern Georgia.
